Travelling the
Musical Miles

JOHN MILES showed the full range of his musical talent at Nottingham's Royal Concert Hall last night, writes DAVID LOWE

He hit the headlines in '76 when Music, a track off his sucessful debut album Rebel, soared into the single charts.
Since then he has matured into an accomplished performer, generating compelling power and atmosphere.

Superbly backed by his band, he cleverly switched moods with music of the future and music of the past, giving an appreciative audience a couple of vibrant new numbers plus some of his standards.

Ethereal chords, complete with smoke, provided a dramatic opening for a man with a haunting voice and effective stage presence.

And he quickly swung into fine form to the delight of his hand-clapping, foot stamping admirers.

Rock band June Decruis was the supporting act.
